OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition hands-on

The OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition, inspired by the character Keqing, will be available for pre-order in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, and India starting today. It features a unique Elector Violet color scheme with a peacock motif and will have a limited release in select countries with OnePlus presence."

A new electro-etching process has been used to create a speckled appearance on the glass of a limited edition phone. This process aims to make fingerprints less visible and improve the tactile experience. The phone comes with a bespoke bundle that includes collectible merchandise and accessories designed to match the phone's style, such as a violet 100W charger, a violet USB A-to-C cable, and a SIM ejector tool shaped like a Lightning Stiletto.

The box includes a Keqing acrylic stand, a pin, and eight magnets, as well as a custom protective case with a colorful image of Keqing. Some items may be taken with you, while others may be left at home on a shelf. The box itself is fully customized.

OnePlus has invested $14 million to establish a Genshin Impact Gaming Laboratory in partnership with miHoYo. The goal is to optimize their phones for gaming, with a focus on delivering high frame rates and faster load times. The 12R Genshin Impact Edition has been tested to run the game at an average of 59.4fps for over an hour without overheating, thanks to its dual vapor chamber design. The phone also features a Keqing theme, including customized wallpapers, icons, and animations.

The 12R has a lot of compute power – it is based on the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that powered last year’s OnePlus 11 flagship. The Adreno 740 GPU is quite powerful, though the R-phone took one step back from flagship performance – as the company confirmed after some initial confusion, the phone has UFS 3.1 storage, not 4.0.

The OnePlus 12R has a curved 6.78” display on the front, an AMOLED with 1,264 x 2,780px resolution and 10-bit colors (HDR10+, Dolby Vision). Even better, it is an LTPO panel, meaning that it can adjust its frame in the range 1-120Hz.
